What We Offer
The Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum offers engaging, standards-aligned K–12 field trip programs that bring science, history, and the natural world to life through immersive exhibits and hands-on learning experiences. Our field trips take students beyond the classroom to explore topics in life science, earth science, physical science, history, culture, and STEM, inspiring curiosity and discovery for learners of all grade levels and school types.
Thanks to the generous support of our community partners and donors, field trip admission and transportation may be available at no cost for qualifying Title I and Clark County School District (CCSD) schools, subject to funding availability.
NOTE: We understand that CCSD schools and teachers are navigating bell schedule changes for the 2026–2027 school year. Field trip start times can be adjusted as needed to accommodate individual school schedules.
Guided Field Trips
About the Program
Guided field trips offer a fully facilitated museum experience that engages students in standards-aligned scientific investigations, engineering design challenges, and collaborative problem-solving throughout the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum. Through hands-on activities and exploration of our galleries, students examine real-world issues, analyze evidence, communicate ideas, and develop durable skills such as teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. Each guided field trip fosters curiosity, scientific literacy, and a sense of belonging for students, teachers, and chaperones.

Grade Levels
K-2
Young learners explore the natural world through hands-on activities, storytelling, and guided discovery. Students investigate animals, habitats, dinosaurs, and ecosystems while building observation, questioning, and problem-solving skills through interactive museum experiences.
3-5
Students become scientists, engineers, and explorers as they tackle real-world environmental challenges. Through collaborative investigations and design challenges, they deepen their understanding of ecosystems, adaptation, prehistoric life, and conservation while strengthening critical thinking and teamwork.
6-8
Middle school students engage in inquiry-driven experiences that connect science, engineering, and environmental stewardship. Through collaborative challenges, they design solutions, analyze evidence, and apply STEM concepts to issues such as geology, conservation, natural resources, and climate.
9-12
High school students investigate complex scientific and environmental issues through authentic, project-based learning. Working as engineers, climate scientists, and researchers, they evaluate evidence, develop innovative solutions, and communicate their ideas while exploring the Museum's exhibits.
Self-Guided Field Trips
About the Program
Self-Guided field trips provide a flexible, teacher-led museum experience that allows students to explore the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum at their own pace. Museum staff provide a brief orientation upon arrival. Learners engage with exhibits through observation, discussion, and exploration while completing a Museum Explorer Guide or teacher-provided activity. Self-guided field trips encourage curiosity, discovery, and meaningful connections to science, natural history, and cultures from around the world.

Chaperone Guidelines
Chaperones play an important role in creating a safe, engaging, and positive learning experience for all students during their museum visit.
Each chaperone is responsible for supervising their assigned group of students for the entire duration of the field trip. Chaperones must remain with their group at all times as they move through the museum galleries, participate in activities, and explore exhibits.
Prior to the visit, all chaperones must review and complete the Chaperone Agreement. This agreement outlines expectations and helps ensure a successful experience for students, teachers, chaperones, and museum staff. A completed Chaperone Agreement serves as the chaperone's admission to the museum on the day of the field trip.
We require a chaperone ratio to ensure the best experience for our visitors.

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: 1 adult per 6 students

3rd through 12th Grade: 1 adult per 8 students

Chaperones providing 1:1 assistance to students must be approved prior to the field trip.

Unregistered chaperones are permitted with approval from the teacher or group organizer. Upon arrival, all chaperones must complete the required chaperone agreement and receive a student group assignment before participating in the field trip.
