About the Event
Plains Beadwork: Loom Beading Basics introduces guests to the rich history and highly decorative beadwork traditions of Native Peoples of the Great Plains. Participants will learn how beadwork has been used for adornment, storytelling, and cultural expression, and explore how patterns, color, and design come together in this art form.
After a brief introduction, guests will try loom beading, a technique that turns beads and string into a fabric-like band. Participants will create a pony-bead bracelet to take home, building patience, fine motor skills, and an appreciation for the craftsmanship behind beadwork.
Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Included with museum admission or membership. Supplies are limited; first come, first served.
