About the Event

Join us for Saving Frenchman Mountain, a presentation by Dr. Stephen Rowland on the natural and cultural importance of one of Southern Nevada’s most iconic landscapes. Located near Las Vegas, Frenchman Mountain contains some of the oldest rock in North America and supports a rich mix of geology, plant life, and desert ecosystems.

In recent years, a coalition of local residents, conservationists, and organizations has pushed for Frenchman Mountain to be designated as part of a national monument. The proposed East Las Vegas National Monument would encompass roughly 32,000 acres, helping protect the mountain’s unique geology, endangered plants, culturally significant Indigenous sites, and fragile ecosystems.

Recommended for teens and adults.

Free admission. Presented in collaboration with Get Outdoors Nevada.
