About the Event
Explore the hidden world of microscopic life in Scientist Spotlight: Dr. Lisa White! In this hands-on program for ages 6 and up, participants will learn about Dr. Lisa White, a scientist who studies diatoms and other tiny organisms that help us understand Earth’s past and present ecosystems. Students will use microscopes to observe foraminifera—tiny ocean-dwelling organisms with intricate shells—then create their own artistic representations of the shapes and patterns they discover. This experience encourages curiosity, observation skills, and appreciation for the hidden life around us, while celebrating the contributions of black scientists in STEM.
Recommended for ages 6 and up.
Included with museum admission or membership. Supplies are limited; first come, first served.
