About the Event
Step back into the early days of dinosaur discovery with The Bone War: Dig Like an Early Paleontologist. Participants will learn about the history of early paleontology and the famous “Bone Wars,” when rival scientists raced to uncover and name new prehistoric animals. Then it’s your turn to do the work: excavate “fossil” bones and use observation, comparison, and problem-solving to figure out how the pieces fit together.
This hands-on activity highlights how scientists make educated guesses from incomplete evidence—and how careful digging, documentation, and teamwork help turn scattered bones into a story about life long ago.
Included with museum admission or membership. Supplies are limited; first come, first served.
