Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Alina

At the Las Vegas Science and Natural History Museum, our volunteers bring their own talents, interests and enthusiasm to everything they do. This month, we’re excited to recognize Alina for her hard work, positive attitude and dedication to supporting the museum.

Alina has become a familiar and valued presence across several areas of the museum. She regularly assists our Education Department with special events and program preparation and recently began participating in weekly husbandry training sessions, expanding her experience and learning more about the work that happens behind the scenes.

She has also generously shared her time at events throughout the year. Alina represented the museum at the Science and Technology Festival at World Market Center and has supported museum events including Harmony in Diversity, MineFest, The Science of Comics and our 35th anniversary celebration.

Her enthusiasm is matched by an attention to detail that makes a difference during her time at the museum. Megan Wagner, membership manager, said Alina has been particularly impressive in her work with visitors and exhibits.

“Alina is amazing as a gallery docent,” Megan said. “She's always noticing items in the gallery and updating staff immediately!”

Whether she is helping prepare an education program, assisting during a busy event, spending time in the galleries or developing new skills through husbandry training, Alina is always eager to learn and ready to lend a hand.

Victoria Torres, volunteer and internship coordinator, has also had the opportunity to see Alina grow through her involvement across the museum.

“We truly appreciate her help and seeing her thrive with museum projects,” Victoria said. “It is a pleasure to work with her in various departments and events!”

Alina’s willingness to explore new opportunities and contribute wherever she can reflects so much of what makes our volunteer community special. We’re grateful for the kindness, curiosity and enthusiasm she brings to the museum and the people around her.
