At the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum, we care about the animals in our community—that’s why, whenever possible, we adopt. Concha and Flan, our two guinea pigs, began their story at The Animal Foundation, waiting for a safe, loving place to call home. When we met them, we saw more than “just” two small pets. We saw a chance to give them a second chance through adoption, welcome them into our Museum family, and turn them into an important connection for the children and families who visit us every day.
Today, Concha and Flan are part of the biggest family they’ve ever had: the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum family.
Every day, they’re cared for by our husbandry team, with fresh food, clean bedding, and regular health checks. Children and families stop by to watch them nibble, explore, and play—asking questions, learning to be gentle, and talking about what it means to be responsible for another living thing. In those moments, Concha and Flan become ambassadors between “the pet I know at home” and “the animals I’m learning about in science and nature,” a small but powerful first step toward understanding the natural world. For many young visitors, Concha and Flan are where they first learn that caring for animals is part of caring for our world.
This Giving Tuesday, December 2, we’re asking for your help with that care—for animals in our care like Concha and Flan.
Your gift helps us:
Provide daily food, fresh bedding, and species-appropriate care for our rodents, reptiles, invertebrates, and aquatic animals
Maintain clean, comfortable habitats and exhibits where our animals can feel safe and thrive
Support our husbandry team as they monitor health, behavior, and wellbeing
Continue using animal ambassadors like Concha and Flan to educate and inspire children and families
A gift of $25 can help cover food and bedding for our small mammals. A gift of $50–$75 can support enrichment and routine care for multiple critters. A gift of $100+ can help sustain Critter Care so we can keep offering these meaningful connections between animals, science, and our community.
Make your Giving Tuesday gift to support Critter Care
By giving today, you’re not just helping two rescued guinea pigs—you’re helping us turn compassion into education, and everyday pets into powerful teachers for the next generation.
