The museum’s favorite winter tradition is back! December to Remember returns to the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum with a season full of science, art, and cultural celebrations that highlight how communities around the world celebrate the holidays.
Starting Friday, November 28, our special December to Remember art exhibits open and will be on display through January 9, filling the museum with stories, art, and traditions from many cultures. From Japanese flower arranging and Las Posadas to Hawaiian holiday stories, Kwanzaa, Native American traditions, and more, this year’s programming celebrates the rich diversity of how people come together during the season.
Our special December to Remember programs run through January 4, with something for every age and interest.
And whatever you do, don’t miss our December to Remember Community Showcase on December 6 — it’s the heart of the season, bringing together science, culture, community partners, and a meaningful toy drive that helps share joy far beyond the museum’s walls.

December to Remember Schedule
Explore special seasonal art and cultural exhibits throughout the museum, highlighting winter traditions, stories, and celebrations from around the world.
Kick off the season with hands-on STEAM activities, from exploring the science of snowflakes to basic coding and fast-paced engineering challenges like building robots and festive trees.
December to Remember: Sogetsu Ikebana with Sensei Kika Shibata
Experience the art of modern Japanese flower arranging with Sensei Kika Shibata, then create your own elegant arrangement inspired by balance, creativity, and personal expression. Recommended for adults; limited to 12 participants.
Celebrate a full day of science, culture, and community at the museum. Enjoy rotating activities that may include hands-on science and cultural stations, live performances, art workshops, photo opportunities, and more—designed to showcase how different cultures celebrate during the holidays.
This event also features a special toy drive with Critical Care Comics, supporting children from about 6 months to 18/19 years old. Guests are invited to bring a new toy or show a screenshot/receipt from the Amazon wishlist. If the value of the toy matches museum admission, your admission will be covered by your donation. It’s a meaningful way to celebrate the season while giving back to the community.
Create beautiful farolitos while learning about the rich traditions of Las Posadas in this bilingual cultural craft workshop led by guest artist Aleida Castro. Presented in English and Spanish; recommended for all ages.
Try your hand at traditional Japanese origami and calligraphy, learning simple folds and brushstrokes while discovering the cultural stories behind these art forms. Recommended for all ages.
Explore the history and meaning of the Feast of the Seven Fishes and enjoy a creative, hands-on activity inspired by this cherished Italian holiday tradition.
Museum members are invited to an exclusive holiday storytime with Mrs. Claus, complete with milk and cookies, a visit with Santa, and festive crafts and hands-on science activities. Activities are available while supplies last and for members only.
Meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the museum and enjoy Christmas crafts and hands-on science activities for the whole family! Activities are available while supplies last and are included with museum admission or membership.
Enjoy a musical storytime that highlights Hawaiian holiday traditions through song and storytelling, offering families a chance to experience how the season is celebrated in Hawaiʻi. Recommended for all ages.
Celebrate Three Kings Day with a special storytime and crown-making craft, inviting families to learn about this beloved holiday and take home a festive keepsake.
Discover the history and symbolism of traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls, then design and decorate your own Kokeshi-inspired figurine to bring home. Recommended for all ages.
Learn about the history and symbolism of wreaths, then paint your own wreath-inspired canvas in a guided art workshop that blends creativity and cultural themes. Recommended for ages 12 and up; space limited to 20 guests.
Explore the history and global traditions of Boxing Day, then participate in a hands-on activity that highlights generosity and community at the heart of the celebration.
Experience a powerful musical performance by Ellis Rice that honors the principles of Kwanzaa through song and storytelling, focusing on unity, creativity, and self-determination.
Join comic artist Jean Munson for a hands-on zine-making workshop, creating mini-books themed around holidays and culture. Zines will be shared at the end of the class.
Learn how the tradition of decorating Christmas trees began and spread around the world, then create and decorate your own ornament to take home. Recommended for all ages.
Discover the origins of Christmas crackers and why they’ve become a festive favorite, then design and assemble your own cracker to continue the tradition at home. Recommended for all ages.
Explore German Christmas traditions and the story behind the gingerbread man, followed by a hands-on activity inspired by this classic holiday treat. Recommended for all ages.
Learn how Yaqui and Blackfoot communities used powerful visual symbols and pictographs to share stories and history, then create your own symbol-inspired artwork. Recommended for all ages.
